Body-First Healing Somatic Certificate

Become the kind of practitioner whose presence regulates the room.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • Establish the foundation for ethical somatic practice. Learn the Body-First Healing philosophy, and scope of practice through a trauma-informed lens. Before you hold others, you must understand your own boundaries and body.

  • Module 1 — Nervous System Mastery: The Polyvagal Lens
Learn the language of the nervous system and how to map states through the lens of polyvagal theory. Before you can guide others, you must know your own nervous system.

Module 2 — Survival Physiology & Regulation: Building Safety in the System
Explore the body’s stress and survival responses and learn stabilization and regulation skills that help clients return to safety. Regulation is the foundation for every transformation.

  • Module 3 — Somatic Attunement & Practitioner Presence: The Practitioner as Instrument
Develop pacing, titration, and presence while deepening your own nervous system regulation. Your attunement becomes the client’s invitation to safety and softening.

Module 4 — Trauma States & Completion: Supporting What Couldn’t Finish
Understand shock, developmental, and complex trauma. Learn to recognize dissociation, collapse, and high activation—and guide the body toward safe completion. When the body completes, the system reorganizes.

  • Module 5 — Relational Somatics: The Power of Connection
Study attachment, the social engagement system, and boundaries as tools for repair. We heal through connection, not correction.

Module 6 — Anatomy of Trauma Imprints: Where the Body Holds Stories
Explore how trauma lives in the anatomy through somatic psychology, and learn gentle awareness and touch-based practices for integration. Because the body remembers what the mind forgets.

  • Becoming a Body-First Practitioner
Supervision, practice, and your final case presentation ensure you leave with embodied mastery. This isn’t about tests or homework—it’s about lived experience.

  • Somatic Business Add-On: The Body-Led Way to Build a Practice (Optional)

Create a somatic business or program rooted in authenticity and impact. Define your scope, set ethical structures, and align to the sustainable rhythms that support both your nervous system and your clients’. Because how you build your business matters just as much as how you serve.

Five months. 100 hours. One embodied transformation. Each module combines live teaching, practice, and mentorship—because true somatic learning comes through experience.

What Makes This Certificate Different

Somatic work can’t just be learned, it has to be lived.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF…

This training is for practitioners, guides, and healers who sense that talk-based work isn’t enough. If you’ve ever felt your clients’ pain in your own body or sensed the unspoken tension beneath their words—this work is for you.

  • You feel clients’ emotions in your own body and want to understand that somatically.

  • You already work with people (therapy, coaching, bodywork, yoga, ministry, etc.) and want to integrate somatic skill.

  • You value depth, ethics, and embodied leadership over quick tools.

  • You’re ready to learn in community, with mentorship and feedback.

  • You want a sustainable way to do this work without self-sacrifice.

By graduation, you’ll be a Body-First Healing Somatic Practitioner—equipped to support others and build a sustainable, body-led practice.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Brittany Piper — Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, International Author, Trauma Educator & Advocate

For nearly two decades, Britt has partnered with the U.S. military, Department of Justice, universities, and global trauma centers—bringing trauma-informed education, forensic trainings and nervous-system-based healing to communities worldwide.

As the founder of the Body-First Healing® Program, Britt has supported nearly 800 clients across 27 countries over 8 years, guiding individuals through deep somatic healing and nervous-system repair. That experience has shaped a methodology rooted in real-world results, lived practice, and a profound respect for the body's innate capacity to heal.

Her expertise draws from professional training in Somatic Experiencing®, Somatic Attachment Therapy, Somatic Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory, Complex Trauma, and Touch-Based Trauma Resolution. She blends these modalities into a grounded, body-first framework that honors both physiology and human connection.

As the author of the internationally published book Body-First Healing and host of the Body-First Healing podcast, Britt continues to advocate for a world where healing begins in the body. Not as an afterthought, but as the foundation.

This program is the culmination of her life’s work: helping others become the kind of practitioners whose presence alone invites regulation, repair, and lasting change

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • No prior somatic training is needed—just experience supporting others in a helping profession (as a coach, therapist, healer, or space holder) and a willingness to do your own embodied work. You’ll be supported from the ground up. The training builds progressively—from your own regulation, to relational attunement, to applied practice.

  • Five months of live training (January–June 2026), with an optional 6th somatic business add-on month. Visit the program calendar above for exact dates. Plan for roughly 4-6 hours per week between live calls, peer practice, and integration.

  • Our weekly live calls will be on Mondays from 12-2 pm CT. They will be uploaded for playback. Our monthly group supervision calls will be two hours long and decided each month by the group.

  • To receive your Certificate of Completion, you are required to: attend at least 80% of live calls (16 of 20), attend 4 of 5 supervision calls, complete 40 hours of peer practice, and complete a final case presentation. All calls are recorded and available for playback within 24 hours. For any weekly live calls missed, recordings must be watched and a reflection form must be submitted by the following week’s class.

  • The BFH Program is for personal healing. The Body-First Healing Institute Somatic Certificate is a professional training to teach you how to facilitate and guide others through the same principles.

This is an educational and professional training, not a therapeutic container. You’ll grow personally, but it’s not designed as treatment.

  • This is an independent professional certificate program that meets or exceeds industry standards for somatic practitioner training, with over 100 contact hours, supervision, and applied practice.

No. We do not offer CEUs (Continuing Education Units).

  • Yes—graduates are equipped to safely integrate somatic tools into their current professions or begin offering sessions within their ethical scope of practice.

If you don’t feel ready to work with others yet, that’s okay—this program meets you where you are. You’ll begin by practicing presence and nervous system literacy before moving into facilitation.

  • This program provides somatic and nervous-system-informed training for those already working in, or actively preparing for, a helping profession. It does not grant a clinical license or replace foundational education in psychotherapy, counseling, medicine, coaching, or any other regulated field.

Graduates are expected to apply the skills learned here within the boundaries of their existing credentials and scope of practice, and in accordance with all ethical and legal standards in their region. This training does not authorize participants to diagnose, treat, or provide clinical care for medical or psychological conditions unless already licensed to do so.

This program is educational, not medical or psychological treatment. It is not intended to diagnose, cure, or provide therapy for personal mental-health conditions. By enrolling, you affirm that you are emotionally regulated, able to engage in somatic learning responsibly, and personally accountable for your professional choices and use of this material.

Individuals without foundational training in a helping profession are encouraged to complete appropriate primary education or licensure before offering somatic services independently. Participation signifies your commitment to ethical practice and self-responsibility.

  • Fully online via Zoom, with a private online community and dashboard for materials, discussion, and connection. The Body-First Healing Institute’s headquarters are currently being built in Cameron, Montana where intimate in-person trainings will begin to take place in Summer/Fall 2027.

  • Each week, you’ll be required to complete a 2-hour practice session with your selected practice group. During this session, you’ll rotate through three roles: (practitioner, client, observer) so that each student experiences multiple roles. Your 2 hours will be broken up into three 30-minute practice sessions, with 10 minutes for reflection and discussion after each session.

Practice pods will change half way through the program for diversity and skill integration.

  • Each month includes group consultation with Britt—discussing client cases, and troubleshooting practitioner challenges in a supportive space.

  • Because this program has very limited spots and each enrollment reserves a seat that cannot be replaced, tuition is non-refundable. In the case of a true medical or serious personal emergency, you may request consideration for deferral to a future cohort, upon which documentation and a $500 transfer fee will be required.

  • This training is limited to just 30 students—intentionally small for depth, feedback, and individualized mentorship.

  • You’ll deepen your embodiment and gain a unique integrative framework rooted in Body-First Healing, combining nervous system science, presence and attunement.

Applications are now closed. Enrollment will reopen in Fall 2026 for the 2027 cohort.
